How do I get a Boston Public Library (BPL) eCard?

An eCard will give you access to all of the BPL's online resources including ebooks, audiobooks and databases like JSTOR and Kanopy.

Answer

To get an eCard:

  1. Sign up on the BPL's eCard site. Follow the directions to register.
  2. Use you @emerson.edu email address and your Massachusetts mailing address.
  3. If you are attending Emerson remotely from somewhere else in the United States this semester, use the College's street address: 120 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116.
  4. Then you can access the BPL online resources.

Notes:

  • If you have a physical BPL card, you already have access to all their online resources!
  • If you want to borrow physical materials from the BPL, visit any BPL branch library (including the main library at Copley Square) to upgrade your eCard.
  • If you live, work, or attend school in Massachusetts you are eligible for a Boston Public Library card. However, you cannot register for an eCard from outside the US.
